Carmel Robichaud sent to the bleachers

I’m hearing a lot of lamenting today about not enough female representation in the Liberal Cabinet. Fair enough, but there aren’t that many female MLA’s to choose from nor do I think that someone should be given a golden ticket to Cabinet based on nothing but the fact that they’re a woman, man, black, white, Catholic, Protestant, and the list goes on. That’s ridiculous. Just because you happen to be a certian gender, ethinicity, etc. doesn’t make you a good Minister.

Carmel Robichaud is a prime example. She made 101 people who are screwing up Canada for good reason and frankly she still owes an apology to New Brunswickers for her lax attitude towards penalties for drunk drivers.

Granted, that’s not the reason she got the boot from Cabinet today but we’re all better for her being sent to the backbenches. She wasn’t a good Minister and Shawn Graham knows it or he would have kept her.

It’s rare I’ll root for the NDP but next election hopefully NDP Leader Roger Duguay trounces Robichaud.

As usual, you don't know what you're talking about. There aren't a lot of female MLA's to choose from... Why not? Because the parties make no effort to recruit women. And while I agree that gender shouldn't dictate who gets into cabinet, it sure as hell seems to dictate who runs for politics in the first place. There is no shortage of high-quality, smart, accomplished women in this province but instead of parties drafting people like that, we get stuck with Tanker Malleys and Abel LeBlancs. So backward.

Roger Duguay will no doubt gain a set in the NB Legislature in the next election along with a few seats perhaps in the Moncton and St John districts. New Brunswick needs change to protect our social programs, protect our values and improve our social programs which the Graham government is slowly destroying.

The increase of taxes, lack of concern for the middle class, low income, seniors by the Graham government is giving the people of NB more leaning towards the NDP.

In the last federal election, many comments were made in favor of support for the provincial NDP.

WINDS OF CHANGE COMING TO NEW BRUNSWICK POLITICS.
