Praising Rogers

Getting the cable, telephone and high-speed Internet hooked-up has always been among my top three hassles when moving.

But it wasn't a problem this weekend, thanks to some great service from Rogers Communications.

When I called Rogers about two weeks ago to make arrangements to move, the helpful service agent offered me a Saturday afternoon appointment - something I didn't know they provided. This was exceptionally convenient as it allowed me to have all of our services hooked-up the same day that we moved. It also meant I wouldn't have to take time away from work to have it all set up.

The Rogers technician arrived at 4:15 p.m., which was between the allotted window of 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and quickly had everything up and running.

I've called out Rogers Communications in this blog a few times (iPhone service plans, PVR failures and HD service come to mind) so it's only appropriate that I also praise the company when it does something right.

Ooooooh, ... an error, ... an over-sight, a lapse in protocol, and we at Rogers would like to apologize for it, convenience and timelyness were not our intent. We shall not let it happen again.
Long live the behemoth, Corporate Bonus' and the complete and utter screwing of the Customer, ........ "All Hail Ted".

It's kind of sad when we get to a point where them arriving in the allotted time window puts them in a deserving place to receive praise. Lets just forget the fact that we are talking about a time span of 3 hours (yes I know some companies have longer time windows)

Any appointment that I make, I'm never going to be given a 3 hour window. Let's just forget the fact that we are paying them for the service they provide.

But to go out of your way to praise them for it.. It's expected... Isn't it? Or have they gotten to that sad point, where picking up a dirty sock is the equivalent of cleaning up the place?

I guess the praise stems from the service on a Saturday, which I was really glad to be able to use.

Haha this is funny, I was just writing on someone else's blog about this same deal. I have always been a roger's customer, but I know Scott Dunlop down at Home Zone, and he's doing an offer for those of you who are NOT interested in Rogers. I know Bell Satelitte is a pain, because you have to install it and coordinate and it's expensive to rent, BUT Scott's doing a deal where you take this survey and if you "qualify" or live in a satilitte appropriate place, they GIVE you the receiver box (no renatl, no buying) Free, and then they install it, you get 2 months of movies and a 50 dollar credit on your bell bill. That's about 2 months of free sports if you wanted it.

I got it, and as I was saying in my last post, I wish I had waited a bit closer to the holidays to install for my hubby to get it as a gift. Oh well!

Passing the word on!
