Contest entries poured in, and judges from the DRBA had a difficult time deciding on a winner

After examining all of the entries closely, one was chosen as the best, and the winner was awarded the grand prize of a gift basket with over $1000 worth of prizes donated by Riverview businesses.

Other entries received included the following:

- Caleb Morton (10)
“There is never a right way to do a wrong.”
- Dorothy Horton (89)
“Do well in school.”

- Linda Wissink
“When upset about something, my mother told me to ask myself: How important is this? How important will it be a year from now or five years from now?”
- Sharon Wolthers
“Don’t do anything you can’t tell your mother.”
- Becky Baxter (28)
“Make do with what you have.”
- Anne Marcoux

“Don’t smoke, drink or chase women.”

These words have been engrained in our minds, and we have learned to apply them to various life situations: putting our best effort into school and extracurricular activities, believing that we deserve respect from others (and likewise), and most importantly, picking ourselves up when we sometimes do make mistakes, and still continuing to believe in ourselves.”

“Cherish your family. If I had to share THE best advice my Mom has given me, these three words speak volumes. My family (and it’s a big one!) is extraordinary. In them, I see wisdom, generosity, kindness, compassion, strength, and heart . . . my most treasured resource.”
- Barb Atkinson
“Love your babies, even on the tough days. They grow up too quickly.”
- Debbi Smith
